If you feel like someone is following you, never go straight home. Get on the Waze app and find the nearest gas station. It sounds like you weren't who dude was looking for though. Glad you're good.

Driving back home late from work, I signal to take my turn off. As I switch lanes, I notice a car in my rear view signaling to make the same turn off.

From the exit to my home, you drive straight for a few blocks before making a right, and then a left onto my hill.

The car continued behind me, but it wasn't at a suspicious speed nor was it particularly close. I don't remember the car tailgating me, even when we were at a stop light. So no signs of agitation or road rage.

I wrote off my suspicion as I pulled into my driveway. Normally, whenever I notice that a car has been 'following' me in the past, they just drive past and my paranoia is wholly unwarranted.

This time, the car hurriedly parked across the street next to a fire hydrant. I figured something was up.

So I grabbed my water bottle and camera bag, and hopped out my car, first looking at the car across the street, before noticing that this dude was bent over looking through my passenger side.:mjtf:

I didn't even see him hop out or walk across the street.:dahell:

Shocked, I just said "what's going on?"

To which he stood straight up from the passenger side, and walked around my car and towards me. As he took two final steps towards me, I took one step back before we both stopped, and he just stared at me. Not a single emotion on his face. Not anger, or familiarity, just blank.

I had never seen this motherfukker in my life.:dahell:

So I'm staring, basically ready to get robbed or something. Silence sits between the two of us, his stare inferring that he was contemplating just as fast as my mind was racing. This was a confrontation unfolding, simply at a bizarre standstill.

He never went through with whatever it was he planned. Every one of his actions screamed determination, until we were, at last, face to face.

He turned around, got in his car, and sped off.

I swear to God that shyt was so surreal, I still thought he was finna get something from his car and turn around, but he just got in his car and drove away.:dwillhuh:

In the moment, I ain't know what to think, my naive stupid azz didn't get the plates or nothing.

I don't know brehs, that shyt got me feeling like I narrowly avoided a robbery or death. I was completely caught off guard, and I can't say nothing but that my guardian angels were looking after me tonight bro.

You a dumb ass nikka with lack of street smarts and situational awareness.

I live in a quiet community near the San Francisco airport, nothing but families and retirees near me. About the only thing I worry about is a speeding car when i back out my driveway.:mjcry:

I'm an idealist, but y'all giving me the cold hard truth.
This how a lot of news stories describe a neighbor right before telling us about some heinous crime. You were very naive. Be glad that you were given a warning. Things can go very wrong next time.

this isn’t a confrontation my man this is you being completely unprepared. you froze. it’s understandable cause you were caught off guard but you should’ve kept an eye on him went in the house. you didn’t have a weapon. what’re you standing around for? you have windows in the house. and you didn’t even get the license plate? we’ve got to start thinking people.

TYRONE GA!
Idk where u are at, but up here, I woulda shot dawg multiple times as soon as he approached my lawn. But since the 1ST thing you grabbed was a water bottle, you were obviously an unarmed black man, which I wouldn't say is a smart person to be. I would have asked very few questions, pretty much "what do you want bro, I'm feeling threatened".

He continues he gets scooped up by the coroner in a few hours :yeshrug:
