Depends when you were born. The Larry H crowd says Sega/Nintendo because they spent formative years with that generation

More people from the Xbox/PS gen actively communicate on the internet and that's what they grew up on

If the question is "more epic" the only answer is the one with Playstation in it. Nintendo/Sega didn't kill Sega like PS did and PS/Xbox is the only feud with both companies doing 180s with the messaging and features, whether it's Sony switching styles completely to get the PS3 on track, Xbox mandatory Kinect & DRM and Sony dropping the sledgehammer with the response video. Or just looking at the two stan sides go back and forth in mental health olympics. Just like online pushed games forward, it pushes PS/Xbox ahead of Sega/Nintendo and any other

I forgot GTA 4 was a timed exclusive. The 360 execs were vicious. Phil Spencer and Matt Booty talking all that shyt in emails and ended up getting packed up :francis:

We can all agree that Playstation has officially won the war , so how does it compare to the Nintendo vs Sega war ?
What even is the console war? Nintendo exist and they make consoles but you don't have them listed. At mutiple times in the last few console generations they sold the most consoles yet PlayStation won?

There is no such thing as the console war. It's just something people invented to try and justify their purchase decision. It's an imaginary concept just like "the friend zone" is.

Nintendo Vs Sega was fun. If you had a Sega console you'd play Nintendo at your friend's house and vice versa. It was playground banter and the ads were funny too. Most were talking about profit and business models. They were talking about Mode 7, blast processing and bits.

Then Playstation came through and crushed the buildings.

Playstation vs Xbox wasn't even a war. It was a skirmish in the PS360 era.

PS3/Wii/360 era was the most competitive. All 3 platforms had their own distinct feel and variety of unique games you couldn't play on the others
100%.

My homies all had 360.

My girlfriend/future wife had Wii.

I had PS2/OG Xbox for a long time and waited until like '08 or '09 to decide. Homies kept pushing me to get 360 but for some reason, I wasn't feeling it. Then the RROD hit EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM, multiple times. Took my azz to the store and got a PS3.

I thought 360 was cooler but the reliability issues made it a no-go. Fun as hell to play Madden at my friend's cribs though.

Nintendo vs. Sega felt more like a real "war" though.

N64 vs PS1 felt like a battle because of Mario 64 and Golden Eye, but PS1 seemed like the top dog by late 1997 or 1998. MGS, Tekken 3, FFVII, Twisted Metal, Crash Bandicoot...felt like they had a hit coming out every other week.

This was the beginning of the end for xbox

Once they said the PS4 was only gonna be 400 dollars, Xbox was cooked. The PS3's price tag was the main reason it didn't outright destroy the Xbox 360 from jump.

Yup
The price tag was exactly why I got an Xbox360 in college. Prior to, my console fandom was Genesis, PS1, PS2. I went back to ps4 in the next gen.

That said, 360 in college was GOAT tier timing for me. It’s probably my favorite gaming era given the games and the relative free time uni grants you

Sega vs Nintendo only because I was a kid. You had to bring your best arguments into battle when school starts :russ:

But still played everything, you weren't going to turn down playing on anything.

Sega vs Nintendo because both had very different, very distinct console exclusives and flagship games, solid install bases, and cross platform games had material differences to compare.

Every genre had solid entries for both

Platformers, sonic and Mario
Beat em ups streets of Rage and final fight, plus different turtles games
Sports games and fighting games were different enough to have a favorite

There were hardware differences...SNES with arguably better graphic processing and Sega with better sound...

It was goat
Genesis did NOT have better sound than SNES
