Whats good y'all.

I have two questions, My macbook pro 2012 broke and I have been considering getting a windows this time around. People who have owned both or have a prefrence can you tell me why one is better then the other? Also any particular model or brand you recommend?

I also want to get into more into making beats on a computer and was wondering which Daw was best? Im going back and forth between Fl Studio, Ableton and Logic pro x. So the question here is which one would you say is better and why? Im going to be using maschine as well as a plugin or standalone either way no matter what I get.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

both work great pc and mac , you can make hits in all these daw the question is what will work best for you .in the end of the day .It's a matter of oponion but for me dell Pc and Fl studio is what i use . If you go Pc just stay away from acer , Dell and alienware are great pc for music production though .

I wanted to get an alienware so bad but didnt have over a grand grand to spend but maybe by the summer. I ended up ordering an HP spectre x360 on ebay today because from what I can see it has long battery life, a pretty good processor though its not an Hq and is a U, has 16gb ram and it has a pretty dope touch screen display. It also has a 500gb ssd drive too so I said why not cop it lol. It should hold me down hopefully.

I used FL and Bitwig before but I keep going back to Ableton because of the customization. You can get under the hood and freak that bytch however you want (ie. Max For Live). There's really no limit to what you can do. I like that you can sketch out ideas in Session View first before committing to making an actual song. You can DJ on that bytch. The potential is amazing.

Yeah man, I might go with ableton or Fl but you're right. In some ways ableton seems better plus gross beats plugin can be used as a vst anyway so I might not need Fl. I'll have to think about it more though.

Ableton Live 9 + Ableton Push 2 is all you need bruh

Not a producer in the slightest :lolbron: but I have these two and I've been messing with it the past year

Unlimited amounts of youtube videos for both the Push and the software of Ableton itself. I used FL when I was a teenager also just to mess around and make trash beats but I feel like Ableton is a more "powerful" tool due to its unlimited capabilities and the options it has to do anything you can do in FL plus more. Coupled with the Push as your Midi Controller, you really don't need anything else but some VSTs

Well I got a maschine and will be using that but maybe I'll get the push sometime down the line if it makes sense.

Thanks yall for your suggestions, I thought this topic was just gonna stay dead lol.

don't need a maschine and a push.
Lol Yeah thats why I decided not to cop it because with maschine I got a lot to flip and manipulate samples right there. The push probably works better as far as being fully integrated to ableton but the maschine software is so good I'll just keep busy with that and bring my stuff into ableton to work on it more. Plus they got the newer maschine, the one I got is an mk2 but I'll just stick with it and if I get nicer then I'll explore other things.

I got a MK2 and I haven't really felt the need to upgrade or make any changes.
I make all my beats in maschine, then I open maschine as a plug in inside ableton when I want to add extra tracks like vocals or some cuts or something.

I think they were great together. I just never felt the need for a push at all. can do most of what I need with the maschine.

Yeah man, Maschine seems like it has everything I would need and if I want to add sounds from vsts and stuff I could bring it into ableton.

What about mixing though? Is maschine good enough for that or do you do that part in Ableton as well?

I do most of my mixing in maschine. Only time I would use ableton for mixing is when I track out and ready to do the finished song.

otherwise I just mix it all in maschine, use my plugins and stuff in maschine, and two-track when I'm pushing out beats to artists.

The learning curve for Ableton is a mf but once you take the time out to learn it's so worth it.

Nowadays I open that bytch up like this is finna be a BREEZE

At the end of the day though, use whatever DAW helps you maximize your creativity

I've used Ableton but i didn't like the way i had to use my drums in it. FL has the best Piano Roll/Sequencer and that is the most important thing to me about a DAW since i'm working the most in there.
