16 bit era
The Genesis & SNES were classic systems in themselves but still not better than arcade machines, so arcades were the place to be. That was the peak of arcade popularity that I lived through. Older ones probably will say the late 70's/early 80's, but no question arcades died a slow death after the 16-bit era

Going to the arcade and playing piff until your money ran out, then going home to play piff you rented from Blockbuster for the weekend
