SNK already released the Neo Geo X a few years ago. It bombed.
I think there already is a mini Genesis, it's just not as robust as what Nintendo puts out.
Sega has licensed the Genesis out as a plug 'n' play console to At Games for at least the last 10 years or so. They are poor quality, no HDMI, and half (or more) of the games are shovelware kiddie games that were never on the Genesis. It would be cool to see Sega do something with the Genesis in-house.
Overall, it's fun to see these old systems get some love and attention from their companies and the public, but it's hard to justify getting one (especially since Nintendo has purposefully made them hard to find) when ROMs are just a click away. Nice collector pieces, I suppose, but I don't consider myself a collector of video games. I just like to play them.
