We’ve seen varying results

some teams have bad owners but good presidents and win

some teams have great ownership, bad gms, and luck up

some teams have great stars and poor management and win

which is most important? and which can completely fukk up a franchise?

I think winning culture and winning championships are two different things. There's more luck involved in winning championships in most cases.

Winning culture I think starts from ownership either by getting out of the fukking way and empowering basketball people to make decisions or by spending.

Interesting but I think more often than not, winning culture, even for a season can produce a chance at a chip.

Winners can lose, but losers never win.

Think it absolutely increases your chances.

Is it possible to have winning culture with bad ownership? Is James Dolan still considered a bad owner?

How much more success would Panthers have if the owner just sat his ass down and hired some assistant GM from the Ravens or Eagles and let them do their job?

Notoriously

true but then you have to have a gm that’s actually competent.

I consider the Mara’s to be good owners, franchise still got destroyed under Gettleman.

Why is he still a bad owner when he put competent people in potion to do their job? Rose, Thibs and Dolan seemingly staying out of the way. Maybe some Knicks fans can chime in.

I grew up a Chargers fan and they are some of worst owners in all of professional sports. The Spanos' are scumbags of the highest order. Always trying to cheap out on shyt. But this past season they finally operated like a real franchise spent some money hired a Ravens guy and hires Harbaugh and let them do their jobs. Maybe I'll consider them good owners when they've had more competent seasons than incompetent ones.

Would be curious to know if Lakera fans feel like there's a winning culture there despite Jeannie being a bad owner.

I think there’s more to being a good owner than being willing to pay. You have owners who pay well, who still don’t relinquish power.

Jerry Jones pays well, hires competent people. But doesn’t get out the way. And he spends far more than say the Bengals cash strapped ownership does, and yet the Bengals have had more success than the Boys in the last half decade or so.

Good ownership to me is a willingness to spend (not necessarily overpay) hire competent, And stay out the way. If you’re missing any of those 3 you can’t be a great owner, so it depends I guess.

Dolan has always paid and never cheaped out, but hasn’t moved out the way, similar to Jones. This is the first time he’s actually done all 3 i mentioned and it’s resulted in what we have now.

Good question about Jeanie, but im not a Lakers fan, gotta ask one of them.

Which teams are you thinking?
Reinsworf is a bad owner. Who hired a questionable GM who made questionable decisions.

still 2 3peats, and the greatest modern dynasty in sports, purely off of Jordan imo.

also won in 05 with the Sox

Jeffrey Loria (Marlins) won twice i think but is a bad owner

The Glazers out in tampa bay as well
