A lot of that was covered up by MJ's greatness. Look at the team since MJ retired and how ownership has capped what we can do. Ownership signed off on Krause letting Phil go because of beef which led to MJ leaving. You can argue that the 98 team wouldn't have done anything because of age but still, Reinsdorf let Krause's ego dictate shyt.
Our GMs, whether they were good or not, have been hamstrung by their refusal to pay the tax, which we've only done once, unless it's for a championship team, which isn't how things work.
I believe Krause was 100% correct when he said organizations win championships. The Bulls have been a shytty organization for a long time.

Is that really the case though as a lot of owners aren't going to pay the tax for a team that can't compete for a championship? Even the ones who do will only do it to a certain extent as it comes too much of an impediment financially at a certain dollar value.

Gotta be GM for the NFL right. How you replace talent yearly with cheap rookie contracts often decides your fate. All the teams that are considered SB contenders (Eagles, Chiefs, Ravens, Bills, Lions) have drafted very well over the last few years too.
