Pac dissed him lightweight - P dissed him back. Exactly what happened with Keith Murray wasn't clear in the time frame. Plus P dissed him on record.
Neither of these incidents really scuffed P up.
He did get his chain snatched by Lake/Worm at the Murda Muzik release party - but that is just outside my window for his prime (the fall off was evident on the tacked on songs) - nonetheless - that wasn't common knowledge in 99. The the Ls started to pile on.

light weight??

hit em up when he was alive

then songs like against all odds and when we ride on our enemies after he died

pac went ham on p and p been salty about it ever since

Yeah - the sickle cell thing was a big deal at the time - but it didn't really do any damage to the Mobb. They turned around and dropped a classic later that year.
I think you are conflating how P is viewed now, with how he was viewed then. He was not considered a walking L machine in the 90s. The Mobb had a wild crew back then and they were known for wilding out at industry functions.
They had Gangstarr levels of integrity back in the 90s.

You definitely have some points. Mobb Deep was up there with the Wu, Bootcamp and Tribe for me back in the 90s

only thing keeping me from choosing prodigy is factoring sales.

on a bar for bar basis...how is Nas' prime touching Prodigy's? Nas my nikka but he peaked too early in my opinion. shyt was like a y=1/x function

You can't be serious :stopitslime:

Nikka really said bar for bar...with Nas of all people :mjlol:

The Way I Am, Stan, Lose Yourself, Run Rabbit Run etc might just be the greatest there's ever been in terms of mc'n imo and he was doing it while dominating the pop culture landscape. No ones ever did that before and probably never will again. The obvious flaw here is that he never made a classic album. MMLP, SSLP, TEM might be 'new classics' - elevated in post-puff daddy weakness but they ain't no where near the true greats.

No one thought Mobb's career was over after Hit Em Up. Pac barely talked about them, and other than the sickle cell, didn't really have anything to say about them. The focus of those records was Big.

Quote everything Pac said about Mobb Deep on a record. It's not much.

P circa The Infamous, Hell On Earth and Murda Muzik, along with his guest verses was unfukwittable :ohlawd: One of the most compelling MCs to ever touch the mic.
u say this...then you rebuke me for saying bar for bar he was close to if not better than Nas?

i wanna roll with nas as the early victor but stans are skewing the poll. i guess yall stans for a reason...just doesnt make much sense to me. Outside of lyrics Nas might be the worst on that list in every other regard except for against Jadakiss

He is one of the most compelling MCs on the mic, and you asked bar for bar how is Nas fukking with P in his prime.

Prodigy was incredible, because of his voice, and how straight forward and vicious he was in his lyrics. He has quotables for days.

What you're talking about is lyricism breh, and what Nas was doing in his prime was straight up wizardry. He was fathoms ahead of P in that category.

thats just me being the threadstarter and generating discussion (without trolling)

as far as the battle between them they have at least 5 songs i can think off off the dome where they collaborated and have featured on many similar artists/producers etc. I maintain Prodigy > Nas in every category except creativity though.

You have a point. Nas peaked early. His best album was his first.
