It is without question

Tupac 1994-1996 is the greatest example of prolific and profound output that hip-hop has to offer

Thug Life: Volume 1
Me Against the World
All Eyez on Me
The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory

These are definitive classics, at least 3 of them are GOAT contenders.

If your answer is anything else you have an agenda based in some emotion you have associated with some rapper, time or place or you just lack proper perception

When you put it like that it's got to be Pac

Ain't nobody beating that run!

probably Jay-Z. It's between him and X.

I give to Jay-Z because around '98, he became a totally different rapper imo. I heard Jay in 97 and thought he was meh. Then "Can I Get A" comes out and it's like "whoa... " His production went next-level and so did the swagger.

Have y'all heard this shyt recently? This is NUTS

50 in third place.

Vol 1 Jay-Z abilities >>>>>>>>>>>> Vol 2 dumbitdown Jay-Z rapping

Also for singles, he had 2 major hits in 98 (Can I Get A, HKL), 2 big ones in 00 (Big Pimpin, Give It 2 Me), one real hit in 01 (Izzo). Compare that to Eminem's hits in 99-02

You can combine everything Jay made during his run and it still doesnt fukk with AEOM alone. Same for X

Pac, Cube and Big the only answers worth respecting

not so much on a mass appeal level, but what about Redman from let's say 95-98?

from the singles in 95 (Can't Wait, Where Am I off the New Jersey Drive soundtrack, How High & Funkorama) then Muddy Waters going plat in 96 and Doc's Da Name going plat in 98 and El Nino (collab album with E-Dub and Keith Murray) going gold also in 98

so it's a mix of commercial and critical acclaim

I could go 92-96 with his trio of classic albums (Whut Thee Album, Dare iz a Darkside, Muddy Waters) but the first two albums went gold only

Lol how can you make a thread like this and not include cube???

I was trying to think of artists who were going Multiplatinum time and time again, running the streets AND the radio at the same time, getting BET/MTV/VH1 play, etc.

Cube just didn't come to mind when I factored all of that together. Did he ever go past platinum? Was he consistently smashing the radio back in the day?

Predator was 2x platinum

and can you imagine he didn't intentionally black ball half of living society
:mjlol:

if DC wasn't so corrosive to wide stream public interest, that shyt would have sold even more

Predator sold well off the strength of anticipation

Cube was the man 90-92

respect to your Eazy avi but this was a mind boggling omission

Cube defines this thread and what it represents

this is the equivalent of "top rappers in 94" and not including Big or Nas

this is the equivalent of "top west coast anthems" and not including California love
