Lauryn Hill is the only correct answer.
This is nonsense - her work ethic was always incredible at whatever she applied it to. In high school she was an athlete, started all the music clubs, was a student leader, took AP classes with great grades and got into Columbia, all while launching her own music career. When she wanted to focus on music she worked her ass off, she made 3 major albums in 4 years along with writing/producing for other artists, managing an acting career, and founding multiple nonprofit orgs on the side. The fact that she chose to leave the industry to focus on things other than music doesn't mean she didn't have a strong work ethic.
"Poor work ethic" means you sit around sleeping in, smoking, and playing video games. It doesn't mean having other interests outside of music.
