Most of America is flyover country to be honest
As far as highly populated states that are well known
Has to be Jersey
When people think of Jersey they think of state that is filled with wannabe New Yorkers in the north.

There's always been a stigma with folks from Jerseys wearing Yankee hats, constantly talking about "Uptown" and shyt.

Back in the day, Dirty Jerz natives Naughty By Nature made a song called "Uptown Anthem" and shot the video in Harlem.

I've know dudes from suburban Northern NJ who wanted to be from Harlem so bad it hurt.

Like "why couldn't I have been born twenty minutes east of here"

. fukking clowns.
Jersey is also known for a smelly ass turnpike, pollution , guidos, terrible accents, bombed ghetto cities with zero tourist attractions (i.e. Trenton, Camden, Newark, Paterson, etc.). At least Baltimore has the inner harbor for God's sake.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Maryland.
When people think of Maryland, what's the biggest city? Baltimore. What do people outta state think of when they think of Baltimore? The Wire.

Sadly, the Wire is a pretty accurate representation of much of Baltimore. And it's true damn near every other cac out here is strung out on boy.
Also, in the DC metro area, people in Maryland think they're from DC.

The whole "DMV" nickname is weak. People from DC will tell you that. The DMV nickname was made up by Montgomery County and Northern Virginia mayo slurping business casual on the weekend wearing squares who want to be associated with the District, its history and its culture.

Nah, bruh, you ain't from DC, you're a lame from Silver Spring. You might live off Georgia Ave, but you ain't from Uptown.
