Simple question and you can go in many different directions.

Some would say Louisiana has the best homegrown cuisine, Cajun/Creole.

Some would say New York...but that is entirely driven by NYC. How does the whole state hold up?

Texas is probably the most diverse, especially with Dallas/Houston, but "the best" is subjective.

California is strong on Mexican and East Asian but weaker on European, African, Caribbean etc.

Which state holdin you down?

Best food overall is too broad a statement. If you were focusing on a certain cuisine or style or something more specific it would be a better conversation. I don't wanna hear nikkas telling me pizza & bagels is better than BBQ or some other non related food.

I would say which state are you most likely to find a good meal without trying too hard, regardless of the type of cuisine.

Hard question because America is such a diverse country when it comes to food. It's easier to compare regions imo and the best regions are a tie between the South and the West.
Texas/Louisiana alone make the South pretty tough. Throw in NC/SC/GA and that probably makes the South the strongest region.

Ngl, New Jersey gets slept on.

Lots of good produce, bomb azz Indian food, Taylor Ham/cheese/eggs on bagels.

Pizza is legit, maybe better than NYC :hubie:
I think the pizza is better than NYC for sure.

As for everything else, we have such a diverse immigrant population so you really can find it all. Really good indian food, really good Caribbean food, the brazilian and portuguese food in newark is fire! All the spanish food you can get from Dominican to Mexican etc. Soul food in JC, Newark, the Oranges. The chinese food is cracking everywhere in the state. We also have the most diners. I can keep going, but we’re lowkey one of the best states for food.

If I had to pick somewhere else besides NJ? I would say PA by the strength of Philly alone.
