Then you have a worse team. No one would play defense besides Shumpert (and he's been erratic at that this season).

That team sucks and I'll tell you why (besides what I've already said about the defense and scheme and all that)

The team's biggest issue besides rim protection is BENCH scoring. Melo doesn't fix that. The Wolves starters I believe are 2nd in the NBA in scoring. Their bench is 3rd to last I believe if not lower. Dealing off the Brewer's and Shved's I wouldn't miss them, but it also requires Flip and Rick to a) find bench players and b) play them. If they could do it, they shoulda been doing that a long time ago.

and no offense to you, but I don't think anyone here has seen JJ since the 2011 Finals because he's been trash here, especially this year.

Lastly, there is no more rebuilding. It's probably gonna happen again soon, but who would care? The same people responsible for this 10 year decline would be responsible for having to build it up again. Who would they be fooling? Until the owner dies, they could draft Wiggins Embiid and Parker and ruin all three of them.
That's my point too with the trade. It's an irrelevant franchise. It gives them a puncher's chance for one season. They're a flawed team now and they'd still be flawed afterwards, but there'd always be the chance those starters would get hot and run teams off the court.

And I do know Barea hasn't been the same since that Finals run, but honestly, none of the PGs on that roster are very good. At least he has the capability to catch fire from time to time.

Could call up Milwaukee in the process and offer Pek for Larry Sanders and Mayo. Rim protection and some scoring off the bench.

Melo fukked himself up. Malta is probably right, trade Melo/Shump to Phx for Okafor/Bledsoe/the three 1st in 2014 and move on.

But NYK isn't trading Melo so it is what it is.

If that team was so potent, Melo and Love would have no reason to leave.

Here's an easy solution that they'd never use:

Play Dieng. Play Muhammad. Rim protection. Scoring off the bench. Otherwise, what did Flip even pick them for? Instead they're waiting for Chase Budinger to change their fortunes like he's our Russell Westbrook. I for one refuse to deal Pek to placate a guy who's gonna leave anyway. I've conceded that the team can't be much better than what it is. Just ride it out for 2 years, watch everyone leave, and hope Glen dies soon afterward so the Sonics can be built right by Hansen and his people.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
It really looks like the only option is to re-sign with the Knicks, because he wont go to some of the markets that would take him and actually have good teams around him. The Sixers will have enough caproom to sign him, but at the end of the day he won't give up his bird rights so you can bet they'd have to gut their team to get him and he'd be back at square one.

The Suns could put together a nice deal for him or sign him outright over the summer, but he won't want to go there. The Knicks are a shortsighted organization, they should be trying to trade him now regardless, cause no team is winning with him on a max contract.

Which is why I don't want him near my team. He is too selfish and this will cause him to never get close to the NBA Finals and a ring.

while I disagree that NYK WONT trade him, because I think they will if they cant convince him to re-sign, then I really can only see him going to a market that is equal to the one his is already in. Which really narrows down a small list to the two Los Angeles teams and the "other" New York team. If they can get another team or two involved, its not out of the realm for the Lakers to get him being that they are trying to unload Pau. I would throw the Bulls in there as an outside shot. They gotta dump Boozer's contract though...not sure how or on who.
