I think the universal title is elevated more not just because it's on Raw but because Brock holds it. And also because of who his competition is, mainly Braun, Roman, etc., the heavyweights. AJ is great no doubt but his matches aren't booked as marquee matches. His matches are more skill based. Not saying that raw wrestlers don't have skill but universal title is booked more like a heavyweight power match. AJ is the most talented wrestler on the roster so he doesn't need publicity to draw attention to his match. It's usually a top 3 at worst match every ppv. Smackdown does have potential with aj, naka, Owens, sami, etc. But think about it, those are all Indy darlings. The guys on Raw are homegrown, so that may be another thing. You know how Vince feels about his own.

I miss the hardcore title when Hardcore Holly would defend it anytime anywhere.. that was the true definition of the Hardcore Title

Universal Title????
I remember the world title, intercontinental, tag and then they made up the European..

The WWE title will always be THE flagship title. It's their only championship that has been consistently active, never retired, etc. Just like in 2002-2004 when the World Heavyweight was in the spotlight because it was on Raw and Triple H was primarily holding it is how the Universal title is treated now. Once the WWE champion is drafted to Raw you'll see the same thing.

It's all fake. The Raw title is the bigger one, and has been for the majority of the brand split. There have been a few points here in there in the last 15 years where it was arguably the SD title, but for the most part it's whatever the Raw title is. It's the bigger show, and the belts themselves are fake props.

Whichever title Raw has will always get the bigger names, hype, and treatment, but the "real" title to me will always be the WWE title. That's the one with a legacy.

Win the WWE title and you're in the same category with Hogan, Rock, Flair, Austin, Savage, Hart, Sammartino, Warrior, Michaels, Angle, etc. :wow:

Win the Universal title and you stand shoulder to shoulder with Balor, Owens, and Rollins. :aicmon:

I'll take the title on the right over the Fruit Roll Up title and the giant W

Universal title.
It's on the bigger show.

WWE title will always be the most desired title since it has the most prestige tho.

The way they have the titles set up right now is such a clever work on WWE's part... you got the WWE title on the underdog brand, being competed for by the people the hardcore fans wants to see the most... then on the flagship show you got the show title being competed for by the pop wrestlers that the WWE brass want on the marquee.

It's a good balance and I think it's working.

They'll probably merge them someday into an "Undisputed WWE Universe Championship" tho :scust:

With the possible exception of 2002-2004 (Brock's original run), the Raw belt is always treated like a bigger deal.
