Which was better: SNES or Genesis

Snes, but Genesis had some heat too tho.

You had to be rich to have a neo geo but it was the only system at the time that ran on the same exact hardware their arcade cabinets did.

Genesis only got Streets of Rage series, Golden Axe series, Gunstar Heroes, Sonic games.

SNES list of "Must Haves" is stupidly long.

Youre kinda tripping. What about Shinobi? Contra Hard Corps? Splatterhouse? Youre also leaving out Treasure(Gunstar Heroes) whole catalogue like Dynamite Heady, Alien Soldier, Light Crusader, Yu Yu Hakusho(import but was ahead of its time)

I had both but SNES edges out the Genesis because the music in their games was a lot better than the Genesis.

I had at least 30 games for that system.

i still got the original sega genesis system (with the headphone volume jack) and like 20 games just chillen in a box in my basement....

Genesis had a broader selection of titles, ranging from kiddie fare to mature content. The system also was able to process graphics faster? The graphics on the Genesis definitely appeared more advanced. SNES was great, but Nintendo doesn't take risks in what's welcomed on their platforms. Sega was ahead of their time, which was evident in the Dreamcast, too. I have always felt that Microsoft took more cues from Sega, in terms of taking risks to broaden the consumer experience, than Nintendo when they launched the Xbox brand.

Yeah when I started using the internet many years ago I was confused when folks referred Sega Megadrive as Genesis. Also in Japan, it's referred as "MegaDrive"
