:whoo: I agree with every post tweeted. I was re-reading "Souls of Black Folks" and Dubois seen these #newblacks back in the 1800s.

"Today the young negro of the south who would succeed cannot be frank and outspoken, honest and self assertive, but rather he is daily tempted to be silent and wary, politic and sly; he must flatter and be pleasant, endure petty insults with a smile, shut his eyes to wrong; in too many cases he sees positive personal advantage in deception and lying. His real thoughts, personal aspirations, must be guarded in whispers; he must not criticize, he must not complain. Patience, humility, and adroitness must, in these growing black youth, replace impulse, manliness, and courage. With this sacrifice there is an economic opening, and perhaps peace and some prosperity."
Props to Jesse Williams and other celebs like Richard Sherman who use their status to call out bullshyt. :salute:. And to this ever growing list of #newblacks, we see you, nothing is new under the sun:pacspit:

Refreshing to know that there are SOME celebrity blacks that aren't scared of "brand" or "powers that be" or a "check" to speak their mind (against the majority) about issues in HIS community...

I couldn't even imagine the impact of someone in Jay-Z's or Diddy's position using their influence and power to speak out on injustices like Williams...And I get it, they don't but imagine what the mood would be. Imagine how many KIDS/TEENS would listen to THOSE voices and not be afraid.

Unfortunately, money is usually the motivating factor, and the loss of income or "weakening" of their "brand" stands in the way...

I remember reading a book about the reconstruction era recently and its funny how a lot of the shyt that people think are new issues are often the same issues just on a different level....history basically just seems to repeat itself over and over again....People in power can continue to use the same tricks on people by using the majoritys ignorance of history, you cant combat what you don't see coming....No wonder people who can convey the truth and actually reach the masses always get killed or die....Something about the universe really don't want the world to change so it rids the world of people who can:mjcry:
