yes of course, that's common. It usually is guys who they would never really date, and they are subtly kind of disrespectful about him to their friends. Same way men do. They compartmentalize. One told me all the nicknames for hers, it was like "broke singer", "Hippy dude", "vegan dude",

For sure, I know exactly what you are saying, done all that first hand. And I get the structural part as it relates to monogamy. You hit it dead on. I am interested more in human behavior, and how we form these ideologies, socially.

On a personal level, I LIKE going out with beautiful women. It doesn't have to be after or before. I might want a date for the night. I may have reservations to a new place. I like hitting the newest place with a beautiful woman in a red dress or whatever it may be. I understand that we have all these social constructs, but I just don't care about the rules and the consequences. So if our expectations get crossed up, we can have a convo, or she can "drop me" or whatever.
