The story you have in mind is probably just coming from smarks who want one of their heros to beat a guy they hate, I haven't heard any wrestlers describe it like that. I admit that I imagine the story like this partly because I don't like Jericho though.

That's what makes Goldberg look bad in all of it is his trying to "protect his character's badassery" by acting like its this outlandish idea that Jericho coulda surprised his ass and got the upper hand on him in that instance. Anybody who has ever applied or been in a proper front face lock knows it's not a rest hold, it's a fight ender because it doesn't really matter how big you are if it's snugged up your ass ain't going anywhere.
