I'm genuinely curious about your opinions as far as all those questions go...

I. I think he should be punished by both the League, and his team. He gets paid top dollars to represent their product. He represented in an awful manner, and deserves to be punished. I get paid shyt, and would get fired instantly if a video like that of me got out. Same should apply to him.

II. I don't find it offensive as much as counterproductive. Obviously, it doesn't even belong in the same spectrum as n.....

III. Usually, but sometime I can't resist. Typically, it degrades in to cac this, and cac that (see II)

IV. I don't think its my place to agree or disagree.

V. I'm not sure if sympathy is the best word. I acknowledge racism in America, but could never pretend to really understand it. With that said, is it an awfully prominent topic on the Coli.

Not entirely cosigning the second rhetorical question.The role of slavery in the pre-civil war economy is generally underplayed. For example slaves building the capitol and slavery being a profitable industry (at least in the short run for those people who engaged in it). But white people only benefited from it in the sense that we benefited from any other large industry integrated into the rest of the economy. Other examples would include oil, ,shipbuilding, automobile manufacturing, industries where immigrant labor was predominant, etc.

At any rate, capital always builds on capital, no matter how seedy the source. You may as well try to get white people in Miami to admit that they owe their suburban lifestyle to cocaine, and that they should therefore legalize the cocaine trade.

Sometimes you just have to ignore people.

I dont want to get off topic but the north profited more from slavery than anyone, the southern economy used the ports of boston and ny, making them the hubs they eventually became today.

The thing is, most white people did not benefit. Most white people had to struggle because they could not compete with the wage-less slave labor. This harbored resentment. What every white person did benefit from was Jim Crow. The denial of opportunity to blacks in the post construction period was a grave injustice. Now that the world is catching up were seeing the white working class suffer in this country.

I dont even think racism is the major social issue on a day to day basis, at least in its traditional form. The new issue to me is stereotyping. We have all seen how easy it is to rely on stereotypes.

I. I think that it's fair that he's punished, be either the league or the team. Not to sure to what extent, but it's definitely not something that should have been addressed. He's at a country music concert and drunk, the level of comfort and truth serum were both in full effect and he defaulted to what he believes.

II. Nope, doesn't bother me at all, I think it's a hilarious term, although "Honky" is infinitely better. No chance it'll ever equated to "n1gger". The social ties to that word are tremendous.

III. Most of race discussions I've seen on The Coli just leave me or I have a theory that there's a lot of posters, which and black, that don't get outside much and I don't know how they cope in everyday society. Typically I'll avoid them, there are some interesting discussions, but a lot of the times they go on such tangents.

IV. To me it's something that white people shouldn't even try to get involved in. Never understood the desire for a white dude to say either, like what's the point? I can see how there is a difference, as countless black friends of mine have called me "n1kka" over the years, but it's not something that I'll say back, it's not my place.

V. I do feel sympathetic to that, as one of my two best friends is black. I can actually see it still when we're out and about, although on a small scale and he can tell me his experiences as well. The internet doesn't shield up up my sympathy, I know that there are posters from all over the country and world here, so they will have different experiences than what I have here in the DC Metro area. I'm thankful for such a diverse area.

Let me give my European Elitist view on this

I. Yes he should be punished, The league should ban him for a game and send him for anger management lessons along with doing community work in poor African american neighbourhoods. The team should fine him and then Rileys, African American teammates should put Riley in a stock and then each of them, chew some tabacco and then spit it in his face and then each take turns whipping him 14 times.

II. Nope, I fukkin love the word, I use it all the time around my Cac friends. Nope not even in the same league

III. The only race discussions Im interesed in are Track and Field and F1. Most discussions on hurr arent worth engaging, you probably get 2-3 good pages before it goes down like a lead balloon. The best threads on hurrr are the continual ones i.e OFT, Boxing, Battle Rap, Team Season discussions one etc

IV. All I know is that I can say the 5 letter word with a er at the end without an , yeah thats right. Niger

V. The combine is racist as fukk, so yes. I've become indifferent to most posts in general on hurrrr regardless of the topic.
