The black responses are more likely to be the honest feelings of the respondents, as they don't have to worry about looking racist for agreeing. Blacks en masse don't really pander to other black people like white liberals do. You have your Roland Martins and other puppets who do, but generally no, because there's no incentive for us to do that.

I don't know. But if they were, it would probably be for different reasons.

For white liberals, it would probably be out of the racist 'pull yourself up from your bootstraps like we did' POV, whereas for Blacks their ambivalence could be partially that bootstraps rhetoric too, but just out of pessimism of not thinking white people will cough up the cash so therefore why even bother supporting it.

But like I said, I don't know about the numbers or how much I trust them.

Without speculating on how genuine their opinions are , I will say that white liberal racial attitudes have been trending leftward in these kinds of studies for a while now and accelerated after the 2016 election, so this really isn’t surprising.
