If you think about it, folks were getting married because it was “the thing to do when you reached a certain age”. This was across the board, all races. But as women started making their own money, and didn’t need a man to move out of their parents’ house, other factors came into play. Men had to show up with more than flowers, and a steady job. By more, I mean personality, entertaining, emotional intelligence, etc. If you don’t have those things, the relationship won’t survive.

And let’s get into why Jay Z can get Beyoncé. He was WEALTHY and POWERFUL in addition to his personality. Y’all stay saying you shouldn’t have to wine and dine, because Ray Ray hit for free. Do you LOOK like Ray Ray? No. If you don’t have it like that, you’re going to have to pay. If Jay worked at CVS, he would not have bagged Beyoncé. He wouldn’t have bagged hood “she’s gonna make it out of here” Beyoncé, or “good family suburbs” Beyoncé. He would have bagged Sexxy Red, or pre-money and surgery Lil Kim. And we know Kim is crazy.

Marriage has always been about social mobility for women, not the other way round. A poor beautiful woman can marry into the 1 percentile. Jeremy Meeks scenario is an outlier not the rule.

This is why I made the thread about CACs crashing out. Although it’s affecting all men of all races, less and less of them have the means to be economically viable which reduces their sexual value tremendously.

Black men have historically been economically disenfranchised but still found other ways to be desirable in the dating market. So it’s not like You’re removing a crutch from us like you are for white men.
