If you listen closely you can tell he is a political conservative. That being said this is a message that will gain momentum in the next couple years within the Black community. Black folks are generally much more socially/culturally conservative. And post COVID once it becomes obvious that just like after the great recession, Black folks will have been disproportionately hurt, even under a Dem president and House.

It's cool to say the community needs to address how rap music is negatively influencing the youth, but ultimately it is a symptom NOT the underlying disease.

For those who say music doesn't matter, go ahead and play some Lil Rodney and Lil Mouse for your young boy and play some old school Suga Free for your young daughter. Matter of fact, maybe your young daughters will love this abortion anthem where Nique is twerking in front of an abortion clinic with 'murda on her mind' in reference to killing her unborn baby.

We literally got 12 year olds talking about murdering other black men and it gets excused. This the same kid that shot a 1 year old... Then Lil Rodney does a couple years, gets out and makes the SAME kind of music, except him and his crew is holding real guns now

Nah. Most posters here are in their mid-20's to mid-30's (check The Booth threads) and have NO connection to what hip-hop was like before the 90's unless they had parents/older relatives that put them on.

It isn't difficult to understand, though. As I said, what I was listening to doesn't move these cats anymore.....

Breh, there's a thread in TLR about Li'l Uzi Vert. How many middle-aged people do you know that
even know who he is?

:gucci::mjlol:

The average age here is mid to late 30's-mid to late 40's.

The entire core of this site came from SOHH, which was a 90's message board.

There's a handful of young people here like @A Tribe Called Quest ™ but most of the people talking about Lil Uzi Vert and/or gen Z rap are middle aged, just stuck in their 2nd childhood.

I'm thinking there's more of the younger gen than us transplants in here, now. Especially in certain subforums. Every time there's a 90's thread, for instance, they come out just to say 'Ol' head!! You stuck in the 90's!!!', and other less 'friendly' reminders that there's a distinct divide between gens that has gotten wider over the last couple decades.

Hell, count how many of them were in school or not even alive when 9/11 kicked-off.

In any event.....

I'm telling you all those people talking about old heads....are old heads.
The next time you see that, quote a few and ask their age. And watch them ignore the question, because they're like 38. :mjlol:

Most of gen Z has no idea what a message board even is man. There's probably less than 100 (and that's being generous) actual young people on the entire site.

Others have stated it but white boys see/listen as just entertainment, if they try to veer to that life their peers laugh at them. Their actual culture is counter to that and they have actual culture that promote other things, they have family that have businesses or connections at work to get jobs, they can listen and take off their headphones and go to college.

For black young boys this IS THEIR CULTURE, the counterculture is looked at negatively as "square' or "lame". Being educated is looked at as trying to assimilate to or close to whiteness. This is what they are born to and for many they get their cultural cues from this, if there is no father then even more this influence is higher, when they reach certain age the girls are drawn to boys or they see on social media women saying they only want dudes who got bodies. Alot are LOST after high school, arent enrolled in college and have no access or recieving any guidance towards jobs with upward mobility. The women around them and on social media actually say they dont want a man that works, thats boring, they want a scammer or drug dealer, they say this while they are enrolled in college tho..

its funny how no one ever mentions the there is a demand for certain this content and music. It doesn’t matter if it does or doesn’t influence behavior.

As long as there’s a large consumer base that’s willing to pay for it there will always be someone who’s willing to make money from it.

And this dude is a pos
Do you think Lyor Cohen would fund and distribute a Jewish rapper who raps about destroying the Jewish community if it was demanded?

This conversation is tired. Both sides will never change their opinion on how rap music affects the black community.

And I have no idea why people are bringing up white boys. They know rappers ain’t talking about them when they use the term nikka 50 times in a song.
And this is why we're gonna continue being in last place as a collective.

Black people can't even come together in agreement on something as fundamentally obvious that music about killing each other isn't healthy for us.

A Jewish rapper could come out with a song today about spinning the block on other Jews and the song would be scrubbed from the internet ASAP.

There would be no debate/fight among the Jews on if the song was "just entertainment" and if the song should be allowed to remain for consumption.

We are a sick people.

A

Alladis.

My husband sat our oldest kids down and lectured them about music. My son is allowed to listen to gospel rap and instrumentals of popular rap. My daughter (older) was allowed to listen to the clean versions of the popular songs. We aren't stupid; we know they'll get around their friends and listen to/hear about it all, but it was important to set the standard and I love him for that.
Sad that rap music has turned into something that we (blacks) have to literally PROTECT ourselves from.

Rap Music used to be something that inspired and motivated the black masses in a positive way.

Now it's something that's being used to destroy us mentally and spiritually.

Kudos on you and your husband putting y'all kids up on to game.

I want to see some solid statements now. Too much vague shyt. I understand the argument that it is the culture itself, but you guys believe that the music influences the culture rather than the other way around. People can pick up certain bad habits and trends from music, but no one becomes a hardcore murderer just because a song told them to. I think someone who is willing to take a life would do so, even if he listened to jazz all day.

From now on I want an answer to the following questions whenever this topic comes up:

1. Do you think gangster rap is responsible for the deaths of black people? What kinds of deaths does it cause?

2. What percentage of deaths is it responsible for?

3. Do you feel that the number of deaths would be significantly lower if gangster rap never existed? If so, what do you believe was the cause of all the deaths that occurred before the existence of gangster rap?

If it's not impossible, cite your sources. If it is impossible, then leave them out.

The ultimate reason the government created gangster rap was to make living a destructive lifestyle seem APPEALING & COOL to young impressionable black minds in order to assist with the prison industrial complex:

People are sellouts for a dollar!

Do republicans really, give a damn that most of their base are white and poor? No because it keeps them rich.

Does Gautama Adini and other tech millionaires give a damn about the poor in India bathe in toxic waste? No because it keeps them rich.

Do we need to cover the Chinese and everyone else on this country?

Lyor Cohen is a vile evil snake and if you don’t think he’ll sellout his own you’re blinded by your own agenda to push an African American pessimistic talking point that no other race throws theirs under the bus and blacks don’t care about each other which is false. I’m not a holocaust denier so let’s not talk about how some Jews did become sellouts during that time.
