It does. For black folks, its always spiritual. That why I don't understand why a lot of black folks HATE when you put something positive to the air in music, because they would have to denounce 30+ years of conditioned negativity in popular music.
Well nowadays the label isn’t as strong as it once was. An artist can record promote and make himself known off the internet. I think a lot of artists just follow what’s trending hoping they can make some noise. If you look at the drill music look at how many rappers died now look at the youngins catching charges before they get grown. Again the music sets the tone and pace for society.

there's definitely a whole hustle with black choir directors teaching black gospel music to white people. I seen a video of a black dude teaching a white choir to sing that Kirk Franklin song "The reason why i sing". :beli: Even as an atheist i think black gospel music should remain 100% black.
The entire American culture is made up of things black people did amongst ourselves just living our life that a white (Jewish) person saw and figured out how to sell back to us and the rest of America.

If it catches on big enough, they slap a white face on it and create a whole new culture/genre.

The internet has expedited this process tremendously.

Watch folks come up in here and act like southern black and white cultures aren't one and the same.

they aren't :childplease: if anything, even going back to slavery times, the enslaved influenced their "masters" more than the reverse. All them little white babies got raised by their black mammies and carried on the influences:pachaha:

Styles may be different but the basic elements are the same.

Nah, the styles/elements were originally very different. The reason they seem close NOW is because whites started emulating black people during slavery

and it obviously continued post-slavery...which leads to my next post

White people have learned to clap not only on 2 and 4, but in unison?! :damn:

This is why Southern whites like singing Negro Spirituals and applying back-beats to their Sacred music...

I had this post saved for another thread but I'll post in here

The same Black Gospel clap on the 2/4 is the origin of the back-beat to all modern pop music

It's the reason why Elvis had so much rhythm compared to many other whites

.
Jerry Lee Lewis is another example of the Southern whites who absorbed black gospel influences
