True story, my mother is an OG Sounds of Blackness member so she recorded that track. Personally I have no issue with white folks singing that, but do it with the acknowledgment of what it is. there's definitely a whole hustle with black choir directors teaching black gospel music to white people. I seen a video of a black dude teaching a white choir to sing that Kirk Franklin song "The reason why i sing". Even as an atheist i think black gospel music should remain 100% black.

It does. For black folks, its always spiritual. That why I don't understand why a lot of black folks HATE when you put something positive to the air in music, because they would have to denounce 30+ years of conditioned negativity in popular music.
