Can we please stop this? Manziel has been a media whipping boy since he was drafted and deservedly so. He got into a lot of trouble in his first year, so him staying 9 months sober is a big deal for a guy like him. Let's be fair, Manziel has basically kept his head down all of this preseason and I think has played pretty solidly all things considered. It's too early to say if he can keep this up and stay clean, but he seems to be taking all the right steps. Ninjas wanna act like they had all their shyt together at 22-23.

Anyone who is working on addiction recovery or has successfully recovered knows that it isn't easy. You want to have your circle of recovering addicts to support you in the small and big positive steps you make, because they really care about you as a person. The media has been pumping up the story, not Manziel. Manziel is the type of person who is a media circus magnet, so because of that, I believe this story got blown up by the media and maybe Browns PR people. Manziel didn't ask for it.

Here is the thing, if he was black or non-white, the media would not be so quick to praise him for kicking his addiction.

I mean, at most he has less than 9 months sober, anyone who knows anything about addiction would tell you, he ain't nowhere near out of the woods with this yet.

So to laud his sobriety and recovery, it's a bit early, and we all know if he was not white this wouldn't be the narrative. He'd still be a troubled guy with off the field issues and this would be mentioned often, as it should be, and to be cautious with him.

We know he'd be getting the business 10x worse if he were black.

Have we really had any Black QBs with substance abuse problems? I can't remember, though I wouldn't disagree, I just think in this particular case, I don't think the White Privelege card is warranted since he has never been a media darling since he's been drafted and him staying sober this long is noteworthy for a guy that had rolled up dollar bills in a bathroom at one point.

Even when he was partying, doing drugs, etc., this fool went in the 1st round (I know it's the Browns though). But even in college with his antics, he was given a pass by the media on some old :smugfavre: "He's just having fun out there" shyt.

It's definitely good that he is on the road to recovery, but we've seen it WAY too many times where Black QBs and players who haven't done nearly as much as Johnny not given the same "pass".

He's no damn addict any more than the guy who gets caught cheating on his wife is a sex addict who needs counseling.

He's a immature cac who could have quit partying at any moment but wasn't until he was in some deep shyt with the team that he decided/ was forced to enter "rehab"
