Yep....learned about this a while ago. Remember, Slaves were property to these people and their money makers. There was a lot of concern about what will happen to those poor plantation owners if they lost their major money making property
and was used as a an argument against abolishing slavery. Politicians from the south and the north thought this was a sympathetic argument and worth considering.

I agree, everyone needs to know this information and its not surprising most people don't. This shyt isn't taught in school and you have to usually gain the knowledge through independent reading or in a deep level college course or something.
