Honestly we don't have no fukking modern day heroes. And if we do, they ain't doing shyt but exploiting their own people for personal monetary gains and not really doing shyt but selling false hopes and dreams.

Come to think about it, why are we looking for someone to lead the whole culture when we all can be leaders our damn selves?

Should I read Just Mercy?
I'd highly recommend it, but that's just a tiny portion of all he's done(and they're turning it into a big film soon). Try to listen to any of the talks he's given, look up the history of the EJI, look up the lynching memorial he created

He's a real hero, not to disrespect some of the folks named itt but Stevenson's in another class compared to a lot of other folks named here in my eyes

@ PA
Obama
Jay-Z
Byron Allen
Kaepernick
Michelle Obama
Eddie Murphy
Beyonce

Many others in the fields of arts, sciences, govt/military, and tech I cannot name... unfortunately...:mjpls:

They do a good job of keeping our black (intellectuals/scholars) Bezos, Musks, Gates, and royalty types out of the headlines. I'd be led to believe there aren't any....:mjpls: Am I wrong?

I have my criticisms of Obama, but I don't hate him by any means or anything like that

But what makes him the most IMPORTANT person in BLACK history? For our people what puts him over Ali, Malcolm, Martin, Mandela, etc.?
He is the culmination of all the work of the people you listed. He's a figure that represents progress... Not that everything is perfect yet.. but that a black man COULD be elected president.

There's a reason racist whites feel like they are losing their country. Obama showed them the future.

He's incredibly important, and you properly articulated why, but that doesn't make him more important than those who laid that groundwork in the first place

I think that if we took all the previous generations of civil rights activists (dead) and asked them who the most important person was... They would point to Obama for the reasons I mentioned. President of the US is such an achievement that his figurehead status makes him the most important. ...

I think if you compare on a one to one basis like if wepaused the universe. And lined up every last civil rights leader on one side. And Obama on the other. Then give them all the individual choice to remove themself from history. Or remove America having a black president from history. I think each person would agree they would sacrifice themselves to keep the black president accomplishment as part of the timeline.
