Curren$y spits a good bar or 2 lyrically every now and then and talks some good life lessons but 90% of the catalog is just good beats and good vibes. He's considered one the main weed rappers in the game for a reason

Dom's a vibe rapper also but even less skilled, hes not so big on the weed and cars like spitta but he makes up for it with having music you could play around your lady.

Isaiah's in a slightly different pocket, but you put his music on to vibe out, not dissect bars
that's all fine, but the thread is about rappers getting credit for doing more than that, and im saying these rappers get too much credit.

:hubie: i think you're misinterpreting the credit youre think they are getting is what im saying, they are crediting them for good music, not their rapping

No one is coming out and saying these guys are rapping better than j cole and kendrick lamar :hubie:

Maino is another one that bullies his way into conversations and never letting music speaks for itself. You can do all the dirt in the world, just that some human beings just not meant to be BIG on the mic. That's life. :yeshrug:

Maino is the epitome of this. The n*gga is WACK AS FUKK, but thinks he deserves respect in the industry because of his street reputation. What's even worse is how he looks down on other rappers for not being street or thug enough for his liking.

:francis: Jeezy, too. Again; see Styles P. Not :trash: or nothing like that but nikkas be on his dikk hard.

Jeezy. Had some dope songs here and there but never got the fascination.
Stack Bundles rip to that man but he was way overhyped as are alot of these "street dudes turned rappers". Maino as well.
Jeezy was never praised for skills lol
Jay-Z

He gets touted as one of the best but he never says anything witty or poignant to bestow those things about him.

I think people fell over themselves with his narrative; calling out Nas as an intellectual, retirement and never writing his raps down.

:yeshrug:
I can't agree overall, but in recent years he gets extra credit for his shyt talking being considered elite bars.

i dont think ive ever heard anyone arguing in favor of maino being "nice" on the mic. like you said he has a rep for his street/jail activities but other than that, he had a moment 15 or so years ago

J. Cole. I used to be a stan for Cole but he has continued to underwhelm and show he is mediocre plus status. every now and then he still has glimpses of that greatness we all thought he had

hes preachy and boring, 40 years old still rapping about middle and high school crushes. living that fake homeless guru lifestyle

When he went on a rampage and went at Lil Cease and Tragedy, I felt like he was jealous that he wasn't linked to legit great all time MCs like B.I.G. and Ghostface Killah. And the "Black Flag" movement that never popped off :mjlol:
