He’s gonna want Mikal Bridges money though. I guess we can do a sign and trade?

I was hoping he'd be RFA, because then sign and trade options open up. To sign him as a UFA, they'll need to dump a lot of salary, and they'd have to do it quickly so that they have time to negotiates with their own renewal eligible players/RFA's (Hart, IQ, and Obi). The only good thing would be that they can go over the cap for their RFAs.

Why is a Sign and Trade option not available because he’s unrestricted? KD did it when he left GS. Or are you saying it’s just less likely.

It just complicates things. OG doesn’t have to settle for a team who can give Toronto a nice trade package. He can bolt to anyone with cap space. I assume the Knicks would try what they did this off-season, but I’m not sure how feasible it is with the salaries on the books. Sending out matching contracts would probably be easier, because suddenly fournier’s expiring is a neutral tool for matching salaries instead of a contract we need to dump.

True. Our biggest threats with Cap Space are the Kings and the Pacers (he went to college in Indiana too if that means anything). Everyone else is trash or a bad fit. He’s really into fashion so maybe that could give us the edge? I’m not worried about the package, Fournier and 2 seconds should get it done since they don’t want to lose him for nothing.

Edit: forgot about the Jazz. They could fukk around and give him a max.

The main thing complicating all of this is he is Klutch sports and they will not steer him willingly to NY
