My only hope for Thibs is he stops with the damn hockey substitutions .

Mix and match the roster so you can play guys together in the playoffs and it isn’t just a gimmick. Quick should know what his role is with the starters, Grimes and RJ should know what to do if they are with the bench, and vice versa. The Hockey Substitutions shyt isn’t cutting it anymore.

Jimmy and Donovan were the guys I coveted because they’re proven playoff scorers.

There were some Jimmy rumblings of discontent during the season but with another deep run it’s over.

I don’t think someone like KAT is worth a haul.
Either one of those guys would’ve been great

If I were you guys I’d go after Cam Johnson, Rui Hachemara, Austin Reeves, and Khris Middleton next year.

They’d all work very well with Brunson.

It’s funny I was just watching Jimmys podcast with JJ Reddikk where he said Thibs did a good job of letting players know what their role is but nobody is anywhere near as good as Spo

I am not making my assessments off of a single series. Also sure the Heat would think that, Thibs predictably made it easy for them to know every Knicks role too.

Thibs has to be more creative during the season so he can make more informed decisions come the playoffs.

Spread Love - The Player Way
I just want a coach that coaches in 2023.
besides our shot profile....we havent changed too much to optimize our players to be as best as they can be.
we dont artificially create spacing with having non shooters screening off ball for looks for our actual shooters like grimes or iq.
we misuse our players best skillsets like hartenstein's passing ability so we have no real means to pivot when teams stimy our bread and butter(iso)
we run a very very static offense with guys who stand in the same spots...and relocate SOMETIMES.
we legit try to run a 2017 rockets offense in 2023...but with less talented players overall...when the shyt was actually figured out 6 years ago WITH AN IN PRIME MVP running it
brunson just happens to be so skilled that poor coaching doesnt factor all that much. Everyone else needs to be optimized. Spoelstras optimizes fringe nba players who have specific nba skills...and masks all their defficiencies...while thibs just rolls the ball out there and wants you to do the same thing over and over.... just HARDER
discipline is definitely needed to win, but the ability to pivot, adjust, recalculate mid game and be flexible is something we havent seen enough of from thibs. He isnt the same old thibs of decades past but he isnt going to change his core completely to be something that fits entirely in the modern nba
you need multiple ELITE nba players to win with thibs. guys that can police themselves on the court in terms of decision making especially on offense.
spoelstra just needs one bonafide elite player and he'll make some shyt happen more often than not. that's the difference in levels.

This whole post sums it up beautifully

What I bolded is exactly what we need; someone younger who's more in tune with how the game is played in 2023; not the 2000's & 2010's. A modern coach would try to maximize his players skill set & best attributes. Thibs way of coaching for the most part is conforming to his out of date philosophy & approach that doesn't work in today's NBA
