You could make an argument that what Russell endured was no different then what the current Clippers players endured. Did Russell not have a choice? Still voluntarily played in a segregate city for notoriously racist fans.

Why not. At its core a choice was made to ignore or continue to play through racial injustice done towards them and people who look like them.

I think in Jackie's case, a whole lot was riding on his success and his demeanor in the face of that injustice.

If Jackie failed or cracked and lashed out at what he was facing, it could have had serious implications on the ensuing race relations and civil rights movement.
But I get the trolling aspect of the question.
