there's probably a lot of straight people with the pox already, they're the least likely demo to get tested for any sort of symptoms and many of them *can't* be tested (like how in the early days of covid you couldn't get a test unless you'd traveled to china). the same shyt happened during the early days of aids, stigmatization forced straight people to conceal their illnesses and caused it to spread outside the gay community.
No one's "pushing" it as a gay disease. 99% of cases are males that have sex with males. The other 1% are stud trehs and kids that lived with gay men.

"We continue to see the majority of cases in the United States as being reported among individuals who identify as gay, bisexual or other men who have sex with men," McQuiston said. More than 99% of the US monkeypox cases for which the CDC has information have involved male-to-male sexual contact.
that's not 99% of total cases, it's 99% of observed cases. it's pretty much impossible to get tested rn if you're straight or a woman, also openly gay men are the most likely to get tested after experiencing symptoms and straight/closeted men are the least likely.
They saying once school starts again it’s over. Mad kids gonna get it and spread it. Keep thinking/joking it’s an STD tho :hubie:
the same cacs who learned the word "groomer" over the past couple months are gonna start hanging male teachers cause they'll always believe it's sexually transmitted :snoop:

1. They're generally refusing to test for Monkeypox unless the patient is a gay man. Thus, they can say the statistics show this is primarily a gay man disease.

2. This is not an STD. This spreads like MRSA. You can catch this shyt from touching a countertop.

3. It is also almost certainly airborne like other Orthopox viruses are, so you can catch it by breathing near infected people.

4. No, I'm not joking.

5. Good luck. Protect yourself. No one else will.

6. I'll see some of you next year.

Breh why you capping for lgbt... they did test other people.

That's how they figured out a common characteristic with positive cases. Gay and bisexual men.

Its just that the USA and other countries got caught with its pants down and had a shortsge of tests. So the govt has to make a choice

Why we test straight people when it's damn near a scientific fact at this point by epidemiologists that it's initally started with bisexuality and homosexual men catching this outside of africa

It was 99% gay men who went to orgies and bathhouses .

The social networks that we have as humans mean that we have contact with a lot of different people. And while this outbreak is spreading in a particular social network right now, I think we've messaged from the start that there could be cases that occur outside those networks and that we need to be vigilant for it and ready to respond and message about it," she said.
"I know that in Europe and other places where this outbreak is also expanding, they have reported cases in children, in women. And I think the same thing is happening and expected to happen here in the United States," she said.
"There is no evidence to date that we're seeing this virus spread outside of those populations to any degree," McQuiston said.

• Dr. Jennifer McQuiston, deputy director of the CDC's Division of High Consequence Pathogens and Pathology

These data point clearly to the fact that infections are so far almost exclusively occurring among men who have sex with men,” said Jennifer Nuzzo, an epidemiologist at Brown University, of the new study, which was published Thursday in the New England Journal of Medicine. “And the clinical presentation of these infections suggest that sexual transmission, not just close physical contact, may be helping spread the virus among this population.”

“This large, multicountry study provides the most complete set of clinical and demographic data on monkeypox cases occurring outside endemic areas,” said Nuzzo, who was not involved with the study.

No one has died of monkeypox infection outside of Africa during this outbreak. And for many people, the disease is relatively mild and resolves on its own in a few weeks without any need for medical intervention.

Public health experts also theorize that major LGBTQ Pride gatherings in June may have facilitated transmission of the virus. And given the infection’s incubation period — the new paper puts it at seven days, with a range of three to 20 days — the nation is now possibly seeing the resulting downstream effects of sexual encounters in late June and early July

All the cases were among men, including one transgender man, 98% of whom identified as gay or bisexual. This stark demographic finding is in keeping with data on the outbreak from around the world, such as a recent report from the British Health Security Agency finding that of the 699 monkeypox cases for which there was available information, 97% were in gay, bisexual or other men who have sex with men. New York City, the U.S. epicenter, has seen only one woman diagnosed with the virus out of 639 cases confirmed through July 19.

It's probably difficult to visibly inspect everyone when you're having sex with 10+ people a night.

Or all the piss to the face blured his vision

Lgbt been on dat for decades now... but imma need them to cool it for at least the summer so we can stop monkeypox

When monkeypox emerged, there was reason to believe that public health officials could control it.

The tell-tale bumps should have made infections easy to identify. And because the virus spreads through close personal contact, officials thought they could reliably trace its spread by interviewing infected people and asking who they had been intimate with.

It didn’t turn out to be that easy.

With monkeypox so rare in the U.S., many infected men — and their doctors — may have attributed their rashes to some other cause.

Contact tracing was often stymied by infected men who said they did not know the names of all the people they had sex with. Some reported having multiple sexual interactions with strangers.

It didn’t help that local health departments, already burdened with COVID-19 and scores of other diseases, now had to find the resources to do intensive contact-tracing work on monkeypox, too.

Indeed, some local health officials have given up expecting much from contact tracing.

Who is "they"? Do you have a link to the sources saying this? Not saying you are wrong by the way, just want to read more on this.

@CopiousX
The usual. Concerned people on social media, given the symptoms and transmission. Like any other pox virus. Schools have a large volume of nasty ass kids that will be in close proximity and contact for a majority of the day.

I’ll try to be more responsible and post actual news sources with claims like that in the future :hubie: But we still in the Covid pandemic :hubie:so I want to be vigilant:hubie:could easily see us locked up for another 2 years cuz of this bullsht and I rather not:hubie:
