idk why people care so much about artists being industry plants, most of these artists can be considered one.

Because at the root of things, people want to believe the music that they enjoy.... was because of their own free will, not cause somebody decided it would be what they'd like.

Most of these artists aren't industry plants... that's a huge misconception.

Many of these cats, have legit histories... and didn't just come out of nowhere.

But there are quite a few rappers, who's stories don't check out...and shouldn't have the associations they have if they really were rappers who were trying to make it.

Any rapper I don't like is an industry plant. Any rappers whose first concert I wasn't in the front row at is an industry plant.

it really depends on your true definition of what a industry plant is, because right now there are some loose definitions.

You could go with the whole Jermaine Dupri/ Kriss Kross definition... where he found some people who looked like they could be rappers, and taught them how to rap, and gave them a pre-packaged look and sound.

or, The whole Chance The Rapper way... rapper who's signed to CAA..and supposedly Spike Lee's nephew

or... the Travis Scott way... rapper who's backstory has numerous inconsistencies, and is so blatant even sites like Deadspin are taking note of it.

or... like Drake, Guy who was trying to switch lanes into rap... is in a few videos from way back...was signed and pushed as "independent" while a pretend "bidding war" was going on.

or the most common, The easy cop-out for any rapper who's gotten popular and you weren't paying attention to that you don't like.

you pick.

i think chance the rapper, travis scott, and asap rocky are great examples of an industry plant because they literally came out of no where. Now regarding drake, he was secretly signed and being pushed as independent but so are a lot of artists these days, Kendrick and logic are other examples.

At this point in the game all these lil nikkas and niglets are plants. You aint getting ya stuff posted on Complex or Fader unless you plugged in.

Last authentic rapper to come in the game and grind it out was Future.

Because The Coli is full of fukk nikkas.

BTW in b4 J.Cole/Kendrick mentions and how people only fukk with them because of Jay/Dre....yet the only ones who constantly talk about those Jay/Dre connections are the fukk nikkas on this site ...:jbhmm:
