Genesis was alot of fun but SNES could be considered the GOAT console.

SNES may have been the more powerful console but Genesis still had a bigger and better variety of good games to choose from.And imo had the better library of games.I'm not saying snes was shyt by any means though.But most of their good titles centered around those same cast of nintendo characters.And a lot the rest were multi plat with Genesis anyway.

Sega had to form Voltron on their own console to keep up with what the SNES was doing.

Besides Sports I can't think of one genre that Sega one upped Nintendo on.

All that Sega CD 32x shyt had nothing to do with Nintendo.Sega was winning when that shyt dropped.Everyone was working on CD tech then even Nintendo(with Sony sadcam).It was dumb idea and had they focused on the genesis instead of a new console they may still be around today.
