Yes, forums were around back then. I was actually on another forum before SOHH called aka.com back in 2000 at the start of my freshman year of high school. I was "keystyling" and wasn't too good at it.

The internet was either phone jack/dial up or broadband. If you had money, you had broadband. I remember those days when I would basically go to school and be bored out of my mind waiting to go home and get on my brothers laptop and just go off on folks on aka.com. this was during the ignant era where the whole "star and buc in the mornings, crime rate still high but not as bad as the 90s, you know you're ghetto" era. eventually either I got banned or the site went down but then I discovered sohh. I also remember Davey d's web forum being around back then. Folks probably don't know who Davey d is but his forum was around back then.

I started posting my nikka Dobbs music on AHH in 08 I think, then them and SOHH got hacked a few years later, and AHH never got back Poppin, so I switched over to SOHH and that was my introduction to y'all nikkaa

I still remember how SOHH and SC reacted in real time when Funk Flex dropped Ether. People were asking for Real Audio links back then and every message board was going nuts. That was like one of the first viral moments in real time that set the internet on fire.

Lurked in 2000 and I think finally created my account in 01. I remember searching for something and somehow ended up clicking on a thread in the Ladies Room. From that point on that shyt was like my daily entertainment to get through the day at a shytty call center job. Then I started to discover the other forums, specifically The Spot, The Rec Room, The Coliseum, and of course JBO. I remember the dark days off the forum being closed and wondering if I was really gonna have to be productive at work, going to allhiphop (hated their layout but some cool posters and ideas did come from there), shyt getting hacked and nikkas looking for refuge anywhere (I think that's when SOHH2 was created), and the top notch alias game that I haven't seen duplicated anywhere. This shyt was A1 for getting introduced to dope music and media you weren't aware of before, and always had the hookups to find shyt on the low until the whole net landscape changed.
