Who else has a hard time connecting in a white dominated career field?

I swear this never used to be an issue for me. In my past jobs or even previous to the past couple years I've always been good at the small talk with anyone, regardless of race.

But I swear something flipped in me where I just can't connect or have anything in common with some of these older white guys.

Conversations about certain artists, or music, or hobbies, or hell even kids. I have nothing in common with a good amount of people I interact with on a daily basis.

Does anyone else go through this?

Nah not really, that has kinda effected me in the past though, I would say just focus on your job, but it depends, is your type of field where you HAVE to build relationships and talk to me as the primary focus?

Sometimes you have to adapt to get ahead in life. Consider brushing up on the interests of the people you’re looking to connect with in order to make things easier. If that’s what’s standing between where you are now and where you want to be, it’s worth doing

I don’t relate to white dudes whatsoever, or like dealing with them, but the great thing is that most men enjoy sports. However, if it’s a white guy that doesn’t follow sports, I don’t bother.
