Who else is calling their creditors to lie and say they’re a government employee?

It’s stupid because they still have to pay it back. And it could impact your credit because In some cases they are suspending credit reporting/not reporting current but paying as a agreed.

They aren’t. I work for a financial institution.now if you apply for one of those loans specifically for government workers then yeah they need those pay stubs

If they are are a creditor they more than likely know where you work. And if they don't it's very easy to verify that information even without a pay stub.
