3 pages in and nobody has mentioned K.Dot's origin of Compton, CA having something to do with the nikkas popularity...?

The West specifically aint seen a nikka that embodies all the shyt Kendrick does (see spoiler). He's a very relatable artist, rapping about very relatable things. It's a lot of people out there going through what he raps about. He's not strictly on some west coast shyt like Game (or any other major west coast rap artist) was, but he's not a straight up square appealing to only white college students either. He's somewhere in the middle, of course a little more towards the Compton side of things tho...

The south has a few "kendrick lamars" with (Krit, B.O.B., Curren$y) and the east coast has suffered from oversaturation of these types of artists, and its gotten to the point to where french montana is the man on the east coast :huhldup:

What i dont understand is why it took so long for a label to invest some money into a rapper of K.Dot's class and region earlier than they did.....as if introspective nikkas from the west coast are new as of 2012 :beli:

lyrical virtuosity
memorability
uncanny ability to weave the esoteric into the more tangible
album crafting, s80 and GKMC are both incredibly cohesive in narrative and production
storytelling ability
understanding of his place/hip hop culture
dude is getting laced with some SERIOUS production from both his in-house producers and giants in the industry
not selling out on his debut by getting shyt like stargate productions or breezy hooks
maintaining a level of street credibility while still being able to hold his own on a female oriented track with drake
killing a bunch of features
bringing an incredible level of ARTISTRY to his music. he cares about the art of hip hop
being progressive as an artist
his various cadences are insane at times, he's got incredible versatility in this regard
aligning himself with people who bring out the best in him/people seemingly always bring out their A game when on tracks with him (for the most part)

invoking an overall positive message that really resonates with a lot of people. GKMC shows in an extremely artistic manner a very real, personal yet relatable way that someone who was birthed inside a culture of what some consider madness can still maintain their positive outlook/priorities.
