Good album, maybe great in the long run. Who knows what Kendrick will be in the long run ...
But this immense hypetrain rolling seems like a culmination of different groups bursting at the seams for a rapper to ride with ...
- Dr. Dre / Aftermath Street Teamers (I can't even remember the last dre/aftermath release. I don't listen to Em)
- West Coast (as a whole)
- Rookie Riders (since Big Sean, J. Cole, Wale, etc. are more or less average)
- Concept Album Fans
- Underground Lyricist Lovers
... and the fact that he dropped at least a 4/5 album (4.5 to fans, 5.0 to superfans) gives these folks someone to ride-or-die for.
I ain't mad at 'em, it's good music, but I don't think I fully grasp if gkmc = this much hype.

I'm not even into southern shyt but 2 Chainz's and Gucci's listenability is lightyears beyond Kendrick
People say Kendrick is lyrical... okay that may be true
so what, I'm supposed to look past his voice (which is made worse by his delivery/vocal style) and boring beats just to listen to some lyrics
and the lyrics are presented in this story format that alienates everyone who isn't interested in his stories
