Who else is REALLY bad at math (especially algebra)

I'm HORRIBLE at math. Hate that shyt. The only reason I know multiplication to this day is because of school house rock. Anything pass Times 2 I gotta start singing the sonsg in my head and shyt....

Yup. I've been so bad at it all my life. It's baffling to me when people can just rattle of you know what's 6 x 43 without thinking about it. Part of why I've been bad at math is I was put in Special Ed math in 4th grade and on.. unfortunately for me now (it was awesome at the time) they never really taught anything in those classes. Throughout my middle school years Math class was basically a hang out class where the teacher let us listen to our own music instead of doing work.. and in high school my math class consisted of solving multiplication and division problems with a calculator as the teacher stood and watched.

Math is one of those things where you have to master all the concepts you'll be learning because they all tie into each other. If you fukk up learning at the foundation it's only going to get harder as you go to higher levels. You can only get so far with just memorization and practice...you have to understand it to really be good at it. That takes a curious mind and dedication to accomplish.

That being said, how many brehs here are up on discrete math? That's actually one of the more generally useful maths I've learned.

I wish I were better at math. I'm fine with basic everyday math but that algebra and formula stuff just kills me. surprising since I was great at every other subject until I stopped applying myself. shoot Lord knows college algebra is a main reason I didn't finish. I always think of going back since its not much left for associates but I'm sure failing that math class so much made my gpa look

The only to improve is practice...

Algebra is important and I've seen people make basic algebra mistakes in upper level classes...

Schaums 3000 Solved Problems, REA Problem Solvers, Demystified series are good.

Just start from the last level of math you're comfortable at and work problems from there...

The only thing you need to do is Apply yourself and NO SHORTCUTS.

Once you figure it out you will be and will never look at things the same way again

Its not going to come to you by bytching about it and trying to rush through it.

The stuff you're describing is basic shyt that you didn't grasp when you should have...so now you're working from behind.

Time to catch up. Its not going to wait for you.

You're in college and theres tons of help.

Its not meant to be easy. Its meant to be math.

if you really want to master it, you will.

You are your own obstacle.

Ive taken algebra 1 (in high school wit the other scrubs) got a 80 somethin, algebra 2 (80 sumthin), Geometry (easier than the others, got a 90), precalculus TWICE (in it a second time now an im stugglin, in college). Ive always been a smart kid, grades in other classes were very good, history an science are second nature. Now math, ive spend hours on the same problems, studied with the teacher, gone to review things, for EACH of those courses. And i am just as bad right now as i was 4 years ago. shyt is pathetic, makes me feel like shyt because i really am horrible at math. And foreign language, the two are very closely connected, i cant remember shyt about grammar, or math grammar, the forumlas, terms, nothin. I can tell you the entire cellular respiration process, but i cant do long division

I had to get this off my chest fam, got a 70 on a easy precal test, second time in the class. Same with foreign language, took spanish 1 twice (failed first time, shoulda failed second time but my teacher gave everyone A's for everything), spanish 2 (got the same teacher again lol, woulda failed if i didnt) once, now im in it again in college cus i couldnt get over 30% on the placement test. My brother taught himself spanish, he tried to help me but it jus goes through one ear an out the other.

Is there anyone else who is entirely hopeless in math/foreign language? I always forget everything i learned in a single week, i literally dont know how to do the shyt we took a test on last week, for both classes

EDIT:failed spanish twice btw, and took algebra 1 twice got 80's both times after lots of time spend studying. Dead ass almost went suicidal cus of precal, i legit just quit an told the teacher to jus fukk off basically
