Strangely for years I was absolutely not scared of flying. I was in planes regularly as a kid so it wasn't a thing to me. Then for whatever reason I started getting more anxious about it around my 30s, no idea why (nothing special happened, actually I had had a couple bad flights long before but those didn't change my feelings about flying). TBH the thing with flying is that it's stressful even BEFORE you take-off. You have to get at the airport a long time in advance, airports are far from the city so I always stress about being late, then the whole security thing, then waiting and some more waiting, than being cramped up in a relatively small space with yelling kids and stressed people, etc. Come to think about it I don't mind the flying in itself, but I HATE everything that come before. For short flights here in Europe the flight itself might be like an hour and half or two hours but the whole ordeal might take 5 hours in total

Travelling by train is just much more stress-free, obviously can't do it all the time.
