And this clown has the nerve to say I have bad taste in music :dead:

hey, it's my number #1 fan!

Let's see how well Ross's music holds up after he becomes irrelevant. His stuff is disposable. sorry you bought into it breh. but yeah, your taste in hip hop is :scust: Super safe and conventional. Supported by marketing and who appears to be respected (aka dikkridery)

Out of the legends it's hard to not say Jay. Not only did he work with a classic run of greats, but he also wasn't afraid to help break new producers. Ski, Clark Kent, DJ Premier, No ID, RZA, Q-Tip, Pete Rock, Kanye West, Just Blaze, 9th Wonder, Timbo, Neptunes, Swizz, B!NK, Eminem, Sean C & LV, Rockwilder, Erik Sermon, 45 King, Puffy, Teddy Riley, Rick Rubin, DJ Quik, Dr. Dre...not too many elite level and/or well known producers he hasn't worked with. He even worked with some greats like Madlib but it's unreleased.

Out of your list, Currensy also always works with really dope producers that compliment his style. Rick Ross has really solid beat selection, as does Game (or at least he did back in the day.) I'd say Busta probably has the most underrated beat selection out of your list. Action Bronson probably has the most overrated. He even tends to pick subpar beats from the best producer he works with (Alchemist).

I'm not that familiar with ASAP Rocky's music. Drake's beat selection isn't really my thing but when he has beats I like I like them a lot. Ludacris is an interesting choice. I guess his is pretty underrated also.

ever...Jay-Z
recently...Rick Ross

sleeper pick...Freddie Gibbs

Gibbs is a good choice not on this list, especially out of current cats. Gibbs picks great sampled beats (like the Madlib album and joints with ALC. Also the beats he picked from Statik Selektah are some of the better ones from Statik IMO.) At the same time, I don't like a lot of trap beats, but Gibbs gets me to like that shyt on songs like Pronto or BFK.

yup. And better yet...his projects are often filled from beats from no-name producers.
He gets my vote. He's never had wack production on a project

I think y'all are duped by marketing. Ross's shyt sounds like elevator muzak for the most part. Ross has never rapped on a beat that made me flip. In fact, I'd say he's one of the WOAT in the beat category.

But to each his/her own

I don't even fukk with Ross like that but that just sounds retarded.

It ain't about what beat's make you flip, it's about consistency, at least with him. On average he's going to be rapping on some shyt that he can coast on.

His fans like his beats more than they like him, so he gets my vote. All time I'll give it to Jay.

Who cares?

Yes, Ross's beats fit his corny aesthetic well. But they're corny beats. It's not hard to select the same cookie-cutter corny beat every time.

What's hard is selecting challenging/intriguing daring beats and making them work. Jay-Z made a career off shyt like this. So did Busta. Rocky, etc.

thread is random as fukk. what brings these rappers together?

Jay-Z is #1. then Busta. Then Rocky. Then Ludacris. Then Drake.

Rest are :trash:

Rocky's beat selection is dog shyt. Yams was the ears behind A$AP.

Rocky's last album was a disaster.

I agree with you but it doesn't like degree of difficulty is something people who are interested in this topic really give a shyt about. Seems like consistency would be more of a priority.

lol at you separating the two. at the end of the day, Live.Love.ASAP has Rocky's name on it. Sure Yams prolly chose the beats but at the end of the day, it's a win for Rocky.

Rocky's last album was a disaster.

True. with the exception of Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2. Track of the year.
