There are a lot of boxers in history with great intelligence. But since they’re not as celebrated, they get dismissed. Even though most or all of the greats who followed them copied or emulated their skills.

Floyd was phenomenal but even he learned from others. It’s not like he invented the shoulder roll or the feint/jab combo.

i cant think of anybody in history with better ring generalship than floyd. when floyd was at an optimal weightclass, he was beating people up without getting touched often. when he was fighting older, he was point fighting without getting out worked by younger and stronger guys. fighters like willie pep and sweet pea showed limitations that floyd didnt have. floyd stopped a higher percentage of fighters while not taking the damage or losses those other technical greats took.

Pernell

The way they hit and didn't get hit was amazing

Floyd made it look easy though effortlessly

Maybe not higher but the videos of Nicolino Locche had to have one of the highest boxing IQ's ever as well.

Make this thread in the Ring, you'll get alot of legit responses.

I'm going to say Pernell though.

Sweet P was probably craftier. But Floyd Mayweather is probably the smartest fighter in the history of the game. I would say Ali and Lennox Lewis are right behind him.

I believe what separates them is Mayweather is probably the absolute best at making in-ring adjustments, whereas Ali and Lewis were the best at making adjustments after a loss.

And I'm no Mayweather fan.
