Ja Rule performing without Ashanti should be a half-off ticket

50 had more hits over a shorter period of time . . had a higher peak

At the time I was young and dumb and was happy that something came around to kill Ja Rule because I hated hearing his songs on the radio, he sounded like he had a frog in his throat

Ja's shyt has more soul in it.

In retrospect 50's shyt sounds much more mechanical. You could tell it was formulaic but it didn't hit until your ears matured...

Ja made the mistake of diving into that female demographic lane, and tossing his anchor into the marsh. I imagine the sound of a million women screaming to your records and singing in unison is a helluva drug. Alotta artists change their whole style off that, just to capitalize on that market. Wale, LL, Fabolous...

They might had the same amount of hits but i think 50 had a bigger fanbase over the years.

The problem with alot of Ja's hits is he wasn't the one on the hook. He relied heavily on RnB hooks. You could substitute any other rapper like Fat Joe or some shyt and they'd be just as popular

Bullshyt. Every rapper had rnb hooks in the early 00s, very few had the success Ja did.

I'm not saying that's the only thing that made him successful but if you want me to compare his "hits" to others hits then yes I will consider that a knock on him. Also many of the big rappers did not rely heavily on rnb hooks JayZ, nelly, DMX, 50, ludacris, Nas, eminent the list can go on. If you ask anyone to name a ja rule song they like 9/10 they're naming a song with Ashanti, Jlo, or lil mo on it.

Ja Rule was around before 50, and he had hits before him too. dude had a Jennifer Lopez feature which was major back in the days. we all know why In Da Club exists too.
