Ja Rule won. Benzino, however did not. Nobody uses the racist tapes and it is pretty much message board fodder. Those tapes had traction and got attention to begin with and was covered heavily. After ither rappers gave their opinions on it and pretty much said Benzino used the tapes for publicity, it was a wrap. Benzino didn't do himself or the culture any favors. Breh put the tapes out around the time his own album was dropping and sold them with issues of The Source. As I've always said, this would've been bigger had Benzino took his hands off of it and someone with more credibility would've released the tapes.

He was getting flack for biting Pac and even The Source was pointing this out. His songs were still everywhere and Ja still had hits going into 2005 ("New York") amidst the beef and backlash.

50 cent hit the mainstream before that jarule album dropped in '02.

while i do agree, that he hit his peak already(my homebwoy called it during the '02 BET awards where he performed 3 times), but him getting blackballed sped up the process.

and im no jarule fan. I had no horse in that race.

i will say tho...you gotta play who's in front of you...he has no credible battles cause he don't get into with credible rappers...its all mutual respect between him and other goats
