I’m curious where they came from, went from never hearing of them to them being on every menu out of nowhere

Netflix has a show called Taco Chronicles and it's featured on one of the episodes. Mainly comes from Guadalajara. Which also birthed tequila and mariachis.

It has been growing in popularity a lot these past few years. I've had some real good ones but the area isn't really known for Mexicans like Texas and California. Gotta take a trip to try their versions. But still good as hell. Don't know how long Mexico has had them. I doubt it's been for a long time.
