I've been cutting my own hair for over five yrs now. I use Wahl clippers with a 1/8 guard. I only know how to do even cuts. Never done (or tried) a fade.

No one should be cutting their own hair UNLESS:

1) They are a barber themselves; or
2) They are bald.

You sound like a barber. Are :umad: you're losing business. Barbers don't want people to know how easy cutting your own hair really is

I'm a lawyer and I rock a bald head.

If you CAN cut your own hair effectively, more power to you.

However, most people I know (including barbers) don't have the capacity to EFFECTIVELY line their own hair, particularly in the back.

Since most DON'T have that capacity, then yes, I say you shouldn't cut your own hair.

But if you CAN do it, more power to you.

I'm max attentive to your interrogative. Before I render a SITREP, I would like to go over the revelent facts to the terrain we find ourselves deployed on.
A. Your screen name was RLRugby on Boxden, a allusion to Ralph Lauren Rugby. :umad:
B. You've bragged on the-coli about your True Religion jeans, which retail for north of $150. :stopitslime:
C. You've also bragged about purchasing $200 Ralph Lauren sweatpants.

You spending hundreds of dollars on jeans, and sweatpants, but you too broke too spend $50 a month to get a haircut. Your a bama/herb/lame. I'm not saying people who cut their own hair are broke, I cut my own hair as well, but I'm not bragging about spending hundreds of dollars on sweatpants. :scusthov: Either step your game up, or quit trying to floss like you a baller.

Nobody is going to care about your hair like you. Every black man should know how to cut his own hair even if he still goes to the shop.

This.

Even if I go to the shop, I always have to fix the edge ups cuz only I can get them the way I want em.

...but that's if I go to the shop, cuz I'd rather cut my own shyt for the most part. Only go to a shop if I'm lazy or want a fade or some shyt like that.

I been cuttin my own shyt forever. when I used to taper (when I had that curl) I found that a mustache/beard trimmer worked better than the clippers. Now I just cut that shyt even all around wit no guard... or go with the baldy

been cutting my own hair for nearly 6 years- was using the andis t liner, and the andis haircutting kit from walmart. i just got some andis masters last summer. i use the wahl's for other people mainly kids' hair i cut.

i usually go with the caesar and tapered neckline, now as of late been fading the temple also- i keep it like deron williams hair.

the back is the toughest, but if you take your time, and learn to use both hands you will be fine, just gotta realize when you edging up your line just touch it, not try to make the line- that's how your skin get cut and start scabbing, when you keep doubling back to finesse the line you probably f'in it up
