I got hit up by a bar to do some barbacking shyt on the side for some side $$ on late nights in downtown DC. Never worked in a bar or club before

The manager said the system they use is a “tip out” system where I get a certain % of sales from food or drinks.

How does it work? Do I get the bread ASAP or in a check?

They said its lucrative cuz the shyt is right near where nba/ncaa/concerts,nhl shyt is.

Told me an average of $100-150 a day but I think thats . But if true thats an extra $1000-$1500 every 2 weeks

It's a lot of work. I've never worked the area you're talking about, but I've worked in smaller cities than that, and got that type of compensation, so the $150 is likely very possible.

You should only bar back if you're strapped for cash or they guarantee a bartender position shortly. Not worth the time and energy otherwise.

Yep most places I did security at, the bartenders had to tip out to their barbacks at the end of the night. So those guys were making their wages in weekly checks and getting cash tips every night.
