Damn who here is so old they can’t remember their first job? I was a dishwasher and busboy for a local buffet restaurant. Got a workers permit when I was 14. That shyt was fun as hell at that time.

McDonalds.... Funnily enough I still have a burn mark on my arm from the metal basket we used to fry fries

That bytch swung back and got me after I dumped the fries

People think it's a tattoo because of the uniformity, no it's not I was branded at 16

selling carpet at roses :francis:
i have a weird thing for old 80s aesthetics and places like kmart and roses fascinate me

looking at that candy rack like :ohlawd: back when chocolate was still chocolate

those big ass CRT tvs in the wooden console frame. ill bet that tv still works, wherever it is today

you realize how cheap and plastic the world is now and its depressing

the world has been going backwards since 2012 :patrice:

my first job was jack in the box. they made me make salads and portion fries and make tacos. i hated making tacos there. they came frozen in a giant brick, something like 50 tacos frozen together, roughly the size of a partition block (those skinny cinder blocks). you had to break them apart so you could stick them in the taco rack. its just a corn tortilla that a machine shyt some ground beef into at the factory. theyre then frozen and shipped to the store :francis:

shopping

so you plunge these frozen beef tacos into 400F oil and when the timer goes off, you and your rubber-gloved hands have to peel the taco apart :damn: and the steam that shoots out melts the gloves onto your hands :damn: while you rapidly stuff shredded lettuce, 1/2 slice of a Kraft single, a tomato slice, and a squirt of hot sauce into the taco before the skin melts off your fingers.

oh how i hated the mexican construction crews. 120 tacos @ 12:15pm. while im trying to make tacos for EVERYONE ELSE

the 'monster taco' :scust: was even worse cos you could only fry like 5 at a time and they took up all the space in one of the fryers. you would be making SO MANY at once

i made a few thousand of those things before i quit :pacspit:

Mine was working during the summer with my uncles and older cousins, and sometimes my younger cousin. Putting insulation in attics, or spraying it against the walls. I had to constantly open up the bags of insulation, and place it into the grinding machine, or hopper, or whatever the fk the real name is, and help clean up the site when done.. I always told myself that if I got cancer it would be from those summer days, cause even with those Lil ass flimsy breathing mask I had on(think of the ones you wore during covid), I was still inhaling alot of that shyt. Sometimes I didn't have one on at all.

We would be doing jobs all day long, from morning till like 7pm, sat/sun in muggy ass hot new Orleans weather, then Sun night we'd drive back home to lafayette/opelousas area
