I repeat. How is the man gonna go by the name "The Gangster of Rap" in 1985 and not be the first gangsta rapper? And trust me its not like he wasnt living according to that name.

PSK also came out in 1985, though...and yes, Just-Ice was certified.

any TRUE hiphop head would know that scholley d was the father of gangsta rap. even before the legendary song "psk"..he had a song in 1984 called "gangster boogie"...

it was PSK, however, that inspired ICE-T to do "6 n the mornin" in which he ADMITS to biting the same exact cadence and flow from PSK. from there, ice cube bit that same cadence and flow of "6 n the mornin" when he wrote "boyz n the hood" months later for eazy-e. and the rest is history.

schooley d is the father of gangsta rap. that's long been accepted as a fact.

I'd say Schooly D was the precursor to gangster rap
but there was certainly rapid expansion of the sub-genre
and changes in it as time went on.

Ultimately the west had more contributions
to the sub-genre and helped to mold it into
what we know as "Gangster Rap" today.
